Post Doc Researcher

I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre of Philosophy of the University of Lisbon (CFUL) working on the R&D project Complete Works of Aristotle: Translation and Commentary (Sixth Phase), supervised by Professor António Pedro Mesquita. My project, titled Different Approaches to Mixture in Ancient Philosophy: A Lexical and Philosophical Inquiry, aims to apply the methodological approach—both terminological and theoretical—that I developed in my doctoral research on the concept of mixture in Plato’s Philebus (and generally across all of Plato’s dialogues) to post-Platonic authors, particularly Aristotle and the Stoics.

I completed my PhD in Philosophy at the Universities of Roma Tre and Tor Vergata in 2023, following a visiting research stay at the University of Geneva in 2022. I obtained an MA in Philosophy at the University of Tor Vergata (2018) and a BA in Philosophy at the same institution (2013). Additionally, I was an Erasmus student at the University of Heidelberg.

My research focuses on Ancient Philosophy, with a special emphasis on Plato. I also work on Philolaus, Protagoras, and Aristotle. My expertise includes ancient theories of mixture, particularly exploring the perspectives of Plato, Aristotle, the Stoics, and Alexander of Aphrodisias. Additionally, I have conducted research in the history of ancient mathematics, examining topics such as the nature of numbers, infinity, irrationality, incommensurability, measure, and the theory of ratio. I am also broadly interested in the history of philosophy and metaphysics, with a specific focus on mereology and related issues, including theories of composition and constitution, as well as problems of identity, unity, and persistence.
