Abstract
Aristotle characterises substances as being separate. What this exactly amounts to, however, is controversial in the literature. In this talk I address some of the interpretative problems underlying this controversy, in particular the problem of the separation of substantial forms, and I offer some arguments for the controversial view that forms are not separate. I then present my favoured interpretation of separation, and the prima facie considerable problems it faces, and outline a strategy how to deal with these problems.
