Louis Rouillé
Research Group: LanCog
I am a philosopher of language, working as an FCT junior researcher in Lisbon at LanCog, on a project entitled “The dynamics of fictional names”. Though mainly contributing to debates in the semantics of names and the metaphysics of fictional characters, I am interested in all kinds of philosophical problems relating to fictions outside and also contribute to aesthetics, philosophy of mind, linguistics and epistemology. Feel free to reach out for any fiction-related worries!
I was trained in philosophical logic, formal linguistics, and cognitive science and I did my PhD at the Institut Jean Nicod in between 2016 and 2019 under the supervision of Paul Égré and François Recanati. After my PhD, I taught general philosophy in high-school in France for two years, I was Recanati’s research assistant at le Collège de France for one year, I worked in Liège for three years as a postdoc, before joining the LanCog group in 2026. You can find more information about my research activities and access to my published papers by visiting my website over there: https://rouillel.github.io/index.html
