Fabrizio Boscaglia

Fabrizio Boscaglia (Turin, 1981) is deputy director of the master’s degree course in Science of Religions at the Lusófona University (Lisbon), where he is a lecturer and researcher at the LusoGlobe research centre. He was a lecturer at the master’s degree in Philosophy at the University of Lisbon (2018-19), where he had obtained a PhD in Philosophy (2015) with a thesis on Fernando Pessoa and Islam. He studies the reception and representation of Islam and Islamic Thought in contemporary Portuguese Thought, Literature and Culture. He carries out publishing and research activities on Pessoa’s thought and work, and scholarly dissemination activities on Islamic mysticism (Sufism). He has published or co-edited dozens of academic publications internationally, including the volumes Orpheu Filosófico: a Geração de Orpheu entre Artes e Filosofia (2022), Adalberto Alves: 40 anos de vida literária (2023), and issues of the journals Pessoa Plural (Brown University, USA, 2016) and El Azufre Rojo (University of Murcia, Spain, 2019). Guest curator of the Islamic art exhibition Divine Wisdom: the Sufi way at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum (2022-23), and of several exhibitions at the National Library of Portugal, including Arabs and Islam in Portuguese Literature and Thought (1826-1935) (2017). Consultant at King’s College London (UK, 2021), and collaborator at the Centre for Comparative Studies (University of Lisbon) as well as at the Centre for Global Studies (Aberta University). He teaches Literary Tourism at the National Tourism Authority of Portugal. He is the author of a book of poems (Il ritorno dell’anima, 2021).
