The Refiguration of Spaces as Today\u2019s Challenge<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><strong>18 May 2021, 18h00<\/strong> (Lisbon Time \u2014 GMT+1)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Online Seminar<\/span>\u00a0<strong>&#8211; Via Zoom<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/videoconf-colibri.zoom.us\/j\/87985544858\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Link here<\/span><\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">In this presentation, I<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0claim that\u00a0spatial construction, at both the global and urban scale, will be transformed fundamentally <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">in the near future, insofar<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> space is the medium in which the transformation of society is taking place. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">I<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">argue\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">that since the 1960s we have witnessed a refiguration of social spaces, which are often experienced as uncertainty leading to conflicts and tensions in many societies.\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">To make my case, I will<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0describe <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0forms and effects of spatial refigurations, starting with the spatial transformations at the beginning of modernity <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">and<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0followed by radical changes in the late modern era. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">I will<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> focus on the transformation of spatial structures and spatial knowledge in urban contexts, aiming to show that social uncertainty is more often than not a function of spatial uncertainty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Martina L\u00f6w Technical University of Berlin Spatial Uncertainty.
