Ricardo is Associate Professor at the Philosophy Department of the University of Lisbon and Coordinator of the LanCog research group. Since 2018, he is Director of the Centre of Philosophy of the University of Lisbon. His main research interests are in metaphysics, philosophy of logic and ancient philosophy.

 

Ricardo received his PhD in 2002 from the New University of Lisbon, where he has also held a position, from 2002 until 2005, as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute of Philosophy of Language. From 2005 to 2015 he was Assistant Professor at the Philosophy Department of the University of Évora. From 2008 until 2011, Ricardo has been coordinator of the research project Paradoxes: Deductive, Inductive and Decision-Theoretic, sponsored by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). From 2006 until 2013, he was president of the Portuguese Society of Philosophy (SPF). In 2015 he moved to the University of Lisbon. Ricardo is currently co-editor of the journal Disputatio and of the Compêndio em Linha de Problemas de Filosofia Analítica, published by CFUL.
